10th-12th grade: completion of 9th grade orchestra
9th grade: placement into Sinfonia is by audition only. Students complete audition material for Philharmonic Orchestra and may be placed into Sinfonia at the director's discretion.

Sinfonia Orchestra is composed of students in grades 10-12 who have completed 9th grade (Concert) orchestra (9th grade students may be placed in this group by audition).
Sinfonia Orchestra students can expect to perform at all orchestra concerts (4), ISSMA organizational contest, the InASTA High School Orchestra Invitational at Ball State University, and other opportunities as they arise. After school rehearsals are required the day before a concert (4/year).
Students in Sinfonia Orchestra continue to develop important techniques required to perform grade 2-3 literature. This includes, but is not limited to: one and two octave scales, fundamental bow strokes, identifying and performing expressive articulations, introductory shifting, introductory vibrato, music fluency exercises, and more.
